“Youth and Social Inclusion: Civic Engagement, Dialogue and Skills Development”

Author  :  Fia Delfia Adventy

         The communities of the area in general are still many who live in poverty, while the cost of education is still expensive. This greatly affects the education of the youth so as to make them just getting an education potluck.

There are also the young people who be participation but not be able to develop the potential and skills because the economy of poor families and appreciation of the government is still lacking. In addition, there is also the youth damaged by free sex and drugs. This reduces the motivation of Indonesian youth to more advanced.

Still many youths in my area (the majority of Dayak), which generally have a traditional mindset, just rely on the ability of the natural environment so that the resigned lament the state  of  themself.

The factors above are some reasons why the Human Resource capacity in Indonesia are generally is low, resulting in less participation in development for the more advanced.

Indonesian youth problems such as  above would not be able to resolved without the intervention of many parties, one of that is the government. The government should be able to provide appropriate rewards for outstanding youth and potential to be more active as participation in the development and make positive changes. It also asked that the cost of education for the underprivileged youth can be released. This needs to be addressed more seriously because the role of youth is needed to participate to develop ideas and energy to motivate other young people to be more excited about looking to the future. The role of youth can only be strong and solid if done in a forum or container for aspiration. One of the supportive forum for this activity is UNESCO Youth Desk Programmes.

The role of the youth in the UNESCO Youth Desk Programmes can be more focused. By attending this event insight of the participants will be more widespread, especially in the fields of education, science, culture and communication. Here the participants will be able to compare between one State with another State and may be a motivator for their own areas. When this forum  passed, the aspirations of youth are expected can be considered by the government and related agencies. Participants can stated aspirations, such as:
- Tuition fees are cheaper and affordable and there is a free educational priorities for the poor peoples;
-  Give an award  for the achieving youth from government and related agencies;
-   Active campaign on the dangers of promiscuity and drugs;
-   The cooperation of skill development for local communities without ignoring local knowledge.
The  advices  above  only can be fulfilled if the direct role of the youth, community, and government. All parties need to hold direct dialogue about the best solutions for their respective regions. Here the role of the participants who are members of the UNESCO Youth Desk Programmes indispensable.
